We will be using the Zoom video conferencing program for both the Workshop and Concert elements of the camp. Here is a list of important things you need to know...
Before the event:
Ready for the event:
(a special thanks to Live To Your Living Room for their help and support to us and many others during the transition to online events. Do check there amazing and growing line-up of online concerts & workshops)
Before the event:
- Make sure you have got your laptop, phone or tablet set up beforehand.
- If you can, you may want to try putting the sound through your sound system or monitor speakers before the event. It could well improve your listening experience.
- If you are alone attending the event, you might find headphones preferable.
- Clearly make sure you have also downloaded Zoom and ensured that you updated it to the latest version.
Ready for the event:
- Please ‘arrive’ about 15 minutes before the event is due to start. When you click on the link you will initially put in a ‘waiting room’. During this time the artists will be setting up and the host will be ensuring everything is working and ready.
- When you are ‘admitted’ you’ll be able to see a ‘gallery view’ that will show you many, or all, of the rest of the audience, plus the performer. You’ll see that as well as seeing them you will also see their names. Please note that your name will be displayed
- As there will be two workshops happening at one time, we will be using the Breakout Room feature on Zoom. To enable us to place you in the correct breakout room workshop, please ensure you fill in the questionnaire that will be sent out 5 days prior to the event. There will be parts of the day we will be as one large group, and parts in two different breakout rooms.
- There should be chances for you to interact and ask questions of the tutor and/or performer. You can do that by ‘raising your hand’ (virtually) – you do this by clicking on ‘manage participants’ and you’ll see the option to ‘raise hand’ at the bottom right.
- Do show your appreciation during the workshops and performances as you would normally, they will be able to see and hear you clapping. During the music itself you will see that the host will mute the audience, to ensure no errant barking dogs or noisy neighbors interrupt the concert!
- Your Zoom link will be sent to you by email once your ticket has been purchased, so please check your inbox for an email from Virtual Accordion Camp.
